On 19th of November KST, T1 announced that the team will not be extending the contract with its substitute support player Mata.
Mata, well known for his illustrious career with multiple teams including Samsung White, RNG and KT Rolster, had joined T1 at the end of 2018 as part of their major rebuilding. At the start of the season, SKT, with Mata as the starting player, came to dominate the region domestically, winning their first split together as a team.
However, the team faced difficulty in the Summer, losing 5 matches in a row at the start of the new split. The team opted to start Effort instead, leading to Mata supporting the team from the background.
Following the announcement of the news by T1, Mata made his own post on social media. In it, he thanked his teammate, coaches, and the staff and management, as well as stating that he was looking for a team to join.
Hello, this is T1.
We have ended our contract with Mata.
We highly appreciate what he has brought with us this year and wish him the best of luck for his new journey. Thank you. pic.twitter.com/nk4MsKWWAi
