On the 26th of November, T1 announced the signing of Kim Jeong-soo as their new head coach.
Kim has led an illustrious career as a coach, having been part of Samsung Galaxy, Longzhu Gaming and Invictus Gaming during some of their most successful periods of time. After Invictus Gaming’s crowning as World Champions in 2018, Kim had opted to leave the team to instead join the upcoming rookie team Damwon Gaming.
With Kim, Damwon Gaming was successful making it to Worlds in their very first season. With a mix of veteran leadership and untapped potential of the players, Damwon shocked the world with their plays, advancing out of the Group Stage as a first seeded team. They ended their Worlds run in the Quarterfinals with a loss against G2 Esports, who eventually went on to make it all the way to World Finals.
With Kim taking charge, T1 will be going forward to the next season without the presence of their long-time head coach kkOma. With their roster for 2020 season left in uncertainty, fans will be eagerly awaiting more news regarding T1’s new lineup.
